YEAR TWO - the final few weeks of A-level media studies :(

Here's a (provisional) guide to the last few weeks of second year media studies. First years: you can ignore this post, but remember, you'll be going through the same rigmarole in EXACTLY ONE YEAR...

Have a great half-term, guys!

W/C Monday 13th May - Online media revision (final official week!)

Since we've only recently finished online media, we have a bit of wiggle room here. We need to cover hyperreality and Attitude because I got confused. Normal workshops will be held at the normal times.

+Final lesson: picnic?+

W/C Monday 20th May - Study leave

We will continue to teach during study leave, but there's a small chance your room might be swapped out due to exams and stuff. This week will probably focus on component one, in particular the unseen questions. I'm thinking of this week as 'bonus unseen week'.

There are also two final workshops this week in the normal time.

W/C Monday 27th May - Half term

Probably the least restful half term ever. Sorry. You can use this week to email me (michael) essay responses and to ask me 'stupid' questions. I will reply to your email. But it might not be instant.

Please make use of this, and please spend this week practicing exam technique above everything. When you are not practicing exam technique, you should be building detailed scene/page/clip analyses.

W/C Monday 3rd June - COMPONENT ONE WEEK

This week year one have a mock exam. But you have a real exam. Because it's a mock week, there's a collapsed and new timetable. We haven't seen it yet, so this is totally unofficial, but I will be provisionally running last minute component one advice on Monday 3rd June at 09:30 and Tuesday 4th June at 09:00. Provisionally means this is not official. I will update this post and the blog with any new information.

Your component one exam is on Wednesday 5th June at 09:00 (AM session). Please get to your exam at least an hour early.

Thursday and Friday are non-teaching days, so revise at home (unless you have another exam)

W/C Monday 10th June - COMPONENT TWO WEEK

Again this is provisional, but for the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, we will run component two revision sessions in the normal time slots/blocks. Of course, this will purely be focusing on component two. No new information will be taught. We will focus PURELY on key scene/page analysis, and a bit of structure.

Your component two exam is on Thursday 13th June in the PM session. Please get to your exam at least an hour early.
