The way we revise A-level media studies is simple and straightforward. We take questions which could come up in the final exams, work out an argument or a point of view, and then refer back to the case studies we have looked at in class to make explicit reference to media language.
Revision typically starts towards the end of the second year. This post indexes the revision resources produced since 2019, which was the year that this version of the exam was first assessed. Every year is a little different: in 2020, students were particularly affected by the covid 19 pandemic, and most of the lessons were delivered through YouTube videos! Additionally, the specification is slowly changed over time to make it more relevant and up-to-date. So if you see reference to a text you don't remember studying (for example Straight Out Of Compton), it's because it's been replaced with something else.
However, the analysis that students have provided in these revision activities could be the most in-depth and exhaustive example of revision material for A-level media studies on the internet! It's all useful, so take your time wading in. If you want reminder of how useful the blog is, maybe click here.
