Welcome back, second year media students!
You will quickly find out that you pick up right where you left from at the end of first year: completing your coursework. You've finished the music video, and now you need to complete the accompanying piece, the front cover and double page spread from a 'specialist culture magazine'. This will allow you to not only flesh out the character of the band or artist that you created for the music video, but it will also give you an opportunity to flex your journalistic muscle. If you are aiming for a career in journalism, writing, graphic design or similar, this task is especially noteworthy.
We will be turning the very best magazine covers and/or spreads in to a display, so really put your all in to it!
You can find the (as always provisional) deadlines for the magazine task below.
Get ready for exams!
Not the kind of thing you want to be reading (or typing) on a Wednesday morning, but exams are coming up FAST. Everything you are doing in media studies, INCLUDING COURSEWORK is related to and is preparing you for your final exams. For 2019 entry, your two exams for component one and two will be on Wednesday 5th June (AM) and Thursday 13th June (PM) respectively. In order to do well in the exams, you need to start revising now.
In order to help you with this, we have placed every past paper that we currently have access to on the blog.
We have also created a very detailed revision guide that tells you every possible thing that could possibly come up in the exam. This guide is a work in progress, so please let us know if there are any improvements we can make.
We have ridiculously high expectations of you after your excellent performance last year, and we cannot wait to see your incredible coursework and exam results!
