Michael's lessons Monday 12th November

If I (Michael) teach you today (Monday 12/11/18), unfortunately I am not in, and you have been set cover work. If possible, this can be completed in your normal media room. If not, you will need to move to another computer to complete it.

T BLOCK - FIRST YEAR - I, DANIEL BLAKE RESEARCH PROJECT

I would like you to complete the research presentation for I, Daniel Blake. This task is completely student lead and requires no teacher input. Remember, you are working in the groups I put you in last time. Also remember that this task is assessed and will influence your upcoming progress grade.

IF YOU WERE ABSENT LAST LESSON, YOU WILL NEED TO ASK OTHER STUDENTS WHO YOU ARE IN A GROUP WITH.

You can find the brief for the task by clicking here.

'Bonus' first year task

If you were absent last time and you cannot find the partner you were assigned, or if your partner is no where to be found, please complete the following work instead:

1 - Start a new blog post called 'The Film Industry - Marketing Films'
2 - Select a big budget American film that has been released in the last two years. Excellent examples include Blade Runner 2049, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and Wonder Woman.
3 - Find examples of the following forms of marketing for this film, and place images, links and screen captures of these in your blog:

  • Traditional advertising, for example billboards
  • Teaser trailer
  • Theatrical trailer
  • Social marketing/social media
  • Fan marketing (eg memes, fan accounts, and fan fiction)
  • Viral marketing (google this if you don't know what it is yet!)
  • Merchandise (eg toys, clothing and soundtrack album)
  • Official website (make sure you explore it properly!)

4 - Identify three potential audiences for this film. Remember to consider the film's genre. Write a short paragraph on how the marketing campaign targets and maintains it's audiences.

Q BLOCK - SECOND YEAR - TELEVISION INDUSTRY TASKS

0 - five minutes -  Create a new post called television industry tasks. You can and should do these tasks individually.

1 - fifty-five minutes -  Using the revision guide

The revision guide, among other things, contains information on every possible question that could come up in the exam. You can find a link to the revision guide by going to the 'key resources' section at the top of the blog, or just by clicking here.

So far, for Humans, we have looked at representation and media language. So, go to pages 22-24 of the revision guide. Pick three of the questions. (Yes they all look pretty chatty and straightforward. The real final exam will obviously change the wording, but the question will essentially be the same.) Writing directly in your blog, spend at least sixteen minutes responding to each of the three questions you have picked.

Remember to use a key scene for each response

2 - thirty minutes (at least) -  Imagine: And Then There Was Television

Watch at least the first three segments of this documentary, and make notes on what you've seen. This will form a discussion we will have on Wednesday.
