Analysing teaser posters
A teaser poster is a film poster, usually for a mainstream, high profile release, that is released before the standard theatrical poster. A teaser poster will generally 'tease' the audience with a deliberate lack of information, which itself could function as an hermeneutic code. Teaser posters are an essential part of mainstream film marketing, and can be shared virally on social media even when a film is in early stages of production.
1 - Select and save three teaser posters
You can find teaser posters by googling 'film teaser poster' or similar. Don't worry too much by how much it conforms to being a teaser poster! Insert the images in a new blog post.
2 - Analyse your saved teaser posters
You'll be using the same question as last time: 'Explore how codes and conventions are used to construct meaning in the teaser poster for [XXX]'
3 - Publish your three analyses as a blog post
This counts as revision. Really high quality revision! And you've also revised how the film industry appeals to it's target audiences!
